Amani in Paris: From Snails to Sights

Hello, lovely people! British Bindi’s Amani here, and I had the most wondrous weekend in Paris, and I can’t wait to spill the beans (or should I say snails?) about it all. So, let’s embark on this French adventure together!

My Parisian escapade kicked off with an evening that dreams are made of at Café de l’Homme. Tucked away across from the Eiffel Tower, this place boasts views that make you believe you’ve stepped into a fairytale. You can catch a glimpse of this beauty on their Instagram, @CafeDeLHomme – trust me, it’s worth it!

As I gazed out at the twinkling Eiffel Tower drenched in golden light,(the lights come on every hour), I indulged in the most sumptuous French feast, oh and did I mention there was a DJ setting the mood? It was like a chic soirée overlooking the City of Lights. A perfect start to my Parisian adventure!

Day two was all about diving into Paris’s rich history. We joined a walking tour that was like stepping into a time machine, even though the rain did decide to be a bit of a party-pooper.

First stop: Cathédrale Notre-Dame. The soaring Gothic architecture and intricate details left me in awe. It felt like I’d stepped into a medieval fairy tale, minus the dragons . Truly a masterpiece!

Next, the Museo del Louvre. Art lover or not, you can’t help but be awed by this colossal museum, known for the mysterious smile of the Mona Lisa to the graceful Venus de Milo, it’s a cultural treasure trove. We didn’t get to go in unfortunately, as we heard you have to book in advance and can’t get tickets on the day.

We then strolled across the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris. It’s like taking a stroll through history, with the Seine River flowing beneath you. Simply breathtaking. Then we finished with a long walk to see them Arc de Triomphe.

And speaking of making the best of things, I had my first taste of snails! They surprisingly tasted like chicken (until they didn’t and I had a mini-freakout) But hey, when in Paris, right?

To end the afternoon I dived into a heavenly bowl of crème brûlée, a dessert that’s as French as berets and baguettes. A sweet end to a day.

I wrapped up my second day with dinner at the Montparnasse Tower Panoramic Restaurant. Montparnasse Tower features an a gourmet restaurant, le Ciel de Paris (the Paris Sky), the highest panoramic restaurant in Paris.

The views were simply spectacular, with the Eiffel Tower gracing the skyline. However, I must admit that the food here was a bit underwhelming and definitely on the pricey side, the cuisine was more like “meh” for the price tag. But you know what made it all worthwhile? The view!

On my final day in Paris, I missed my boat ride tour (oops!), but I didn’t let that rain on my parade. Instead, We roamed the charming streets of the city, discovering hidden gems at every turn.

I started my day with a hearty French breakfast, complete with buttery croissants and velvety café au lait. And, of course, I couldn’t resist trying French toast for dessert. Parisians sure know how to indulge their taste buds!

And just like that, my whirlwind weekend in Paris came to an end. It was filled with enchanting views, a bit of rain, and culinary surprises that I’ll cherish forever.
