A curated selection of eco-friendly items
“As we began to adopt more sustainable practices in our lives this year, we become increasingly aware of the lack of options for eco-friendly gifts. Whilst there are plenty of promising options out there for purchasing eco-friendly everyday items for ourselves, we struggled to find suitable, sustainable gifts.
More than that, we noticed there wasn’t a platform on which to find eco-friendly treats (and not just everyday items) for ourselves – because we all need a little treat every now and then, be it a scented candle or an organic cocktail.
That’s how we formed Maitree, a marketplace for sustainable gifts and treats for yourself or your loved ones. Our products are carefully vetted to ensure they uphold our sustainable values.”
On Maitree, you can find gifts that are good for the Earth; gifts you can feel good about giving.
The Jewel Jar
Sustainable gift spotlight!
These wooden earrings are handmade and carved in teak wood. From start to finish, the earrings incorporate sustainable manufacturing processes and materials that are environmentally friendly and leave behind a minimum carbon footprint. The earrings use geometric patterns that have tribal inspiration, using natural colour derived from limestone and 92.5 silver. Each earring takes 5-8 days to make due to its handmade nature. They are lightweight and unique and very easy to style with multiple outfits. Style it with linens, cotton, silks or prints to make the most out of your earrings.
Parneet, the founder of The Jewel Jar: “Jewellery has always had a special place in my heart since my teenage years. Wearing & styling jewellery in my own way, helped me overcome my body image issues and made me feel beautiful and confident. This is what I aim to bring through my brand. I handpick contemporary pieces from various independent designers specialising in artisanal jewellery made to impeccable standards. Each piece is versatile, affordable with an element of luxury so we all can enjoy some unusual finds.”
